- Every three seconds, someone needs blood.
- Every minute, patients use more than 36 units of blood or blood products.
- Every day, 40,000 units of blood are used throughout the country.
- Faith Community Blood Drives help meet this need.
Blood donated goes to provide blood and blood products for 60 hospitals in 29 central Indiana counties. Indiana Blood Center needs at least 500 units of blood to be collected each day in order to adequately supply these hospitals. The assistance that blood drive leaders and volunteers provide in organizing blood drives and recruiting donors is an essential part of maintaining an adequate blood supply.
